Create Profile

Explains creating a Microsoft Teams bot in the Teams Developer Portal and connecting it to Stubber with a Teams profile. Useful for setting up the bot endpoint, client secret, credential, and profile.

# Overview

Stubber connects to Microsoft Teams through a bot that you own. Setting up the profile takes four steps:

1. Create a bot in the Microsoft Teams Developer Portal.
2. Point the bot at Stubber by setting its endpoint address.
3. Create a client secret and save it in Stubber as a credential.
4. Create the Teams profile in Stubber with the bot ID and credential.

When the profile is ready, install the bot in Teams.

# Requirements

• A Microsoft 365 account with access to the Teams Developer Portal
• Permission to upload custom apps in your organisation's Teams, or a Teams admin who can do it for you
• Access to Manage in your Stubber org

You don't need your Microsoft tenant ID. Stubber saves it automatically from the first message the bot receives.

# Create a bot

Open the bot management page at https://dev.teams.microsoft.com/tools/bots (Tools > Bot management) and click New bot.

Enter a name for the bot and click Create.

The new bot appears in the list. The Bot Id column holds the value Stubber calls the Bot UUID. You'll need it when you create the profile.

# Set the bot endpoint

Open your bot and select Configure. Set the Endpoint address to the Stubber Microsoft Teams webhook URL and click Save:

Teams sends every message the bot receives to this address. The same URL is shown, with a copy button, on the Create Microsoft Teams Profile page in Manage.

# Enable the Microsoft Teams channel

Select Channels and make sure Microsoft Teams is checked. If you change it, click Save.

# Create a client secret

Select Client secrets and click New client secret. Copy the secret value straight away. It's only shown once.

Client secrets expire. Note the Expires date, and create a new secret and update your Stubber credential before it runs out.

# Save the secret as a credential

Stubber stores the client secret in the credential manager, so it's never saved in the profile itself.

In Manage, go to Credentials and create a new credential. You can also use the Create a Basic Credential link on the Create Microsoft Teams Profile page.

• Credential type: Generic
• Credential name: any name, for example My Teams bot secret
• Secret Value: the client secret you copied from the Developer Portal

Click Create credential and copy the UUID of the new credential.

# Create the Teams profile

In Manage, go to Notifications > Microsoft Teams > Profiles and create a new profile.

# Profile

• Profile name
  Required
  : a name to recognise this profile, for example the name of your bot
• Profile description: optional description of what this Teams integration is used for

# Bot configuration

• Bot UUID
  Required
  : the Bot Id from the Developer Portal bot list
• Bot secret credential UUID
  Required
  : the UUID of the credential that holds the client secret
• Microsoft Teams webhook URL: read only. This is the endpoint address you set on the bot.

Click Create profile. Stubber opens the new profile.
