Generic Org Global Value

Explains how to create a Generic Org Global Value credential, which reads its secret from an org global value. Used when a template sets a secret with the Org Global Value task and other tasks use it as a credential.

Overview

The Generic Org Global Value credential does not store a secret itself. It stores the key of an Org Global Value, and every time the credential is used, its value is read from that org global value.

This lets a template keep a secret up to date with the Org Global Value task (for example, a token that a previous action fetched), while other tasks use it as a credential, without the secret ever being written into the template.

It works like a Generic credential: anywhere a Generic credential's value can be used, this credential gives the current value of the org global value.

The key follows the same rules as the Org Global Value task:

  • It must have at least five parts, separated by :.
  • Spaces around each part are removed, and the key is lowercased.
  • The value can only be read from your own organization's org global values.

If nothing is set on the key, the credential's value is empty.
